Chapter8_MeaganPiroutek
For a chapter on something incredibly technical, I really found this one interesting. “Camera movement is an art and the masters understand that emotion should always dictate the movements.” As we’ve been practicing with our cameras I’ve found movement really difficult. I do not have a steady hand. At times it comes across as gritty and more retro but most the time it is very amateur. Knowing the difference in push ins and when to use a more steady method to track a shot is very helpful.
This CineD article is really helpful to know the pros of using a handheld https://www.cined.com/handheld-camera-and-the-different-kinds-of-impact-it-creates-in-film/ Not only can a handheld shot create tension or unease, it can build an authenticity that lends itself to more emotional scenes as well.
