The six basic steps of story structure outline how a narrative develops naturally. This begins with the Setup, which introduces the protagonist in their atmosphere and shows what is missing in their life. Next is the New Situation, which occurs when an event disrupts normalcy and pushes the character into a state of unfamiliarity. The story then progresses to the progress stage. This means that the protagonist takes action to reach their goal despite setbacks. As the plot builds, Complications and Higher Stakes raise the tension and increase the chances of failure. Then this leads to the final stage, which is the Aftermath. This reveals how things changed, and it creates a new sense of normalcy. These six steps show the character's growth.
