Connor_Chapter 2

This chapter reenforces some of what I consider to be some of the most important aspects of a film such how vital having all 3 parts of a story is to making not only a good film but also create a well crafted story and characters. When this chapter discussed the meaning and differences between active protagonists vs passive protagonists, I was reminded of how poor the Michael Bay Transformers movies are written (I'm currently watching them so it's what popped in my head), despite that I enjoy them for what they are and consider the 3rd film, Dark Of The Moon to be genuinely a good movie.

" The plot and action entertain us, but how the characters react to that action, how they make their decisions, and most importantly, how they feel about what happens is what sticks with us long after we’ve closed a book. As readers, we relate to the character’s emotions because emotions are universal. Battle a dragon? Nope, never done that. But we have felt apprehension and intimidation in the face of a seemingly unsurmountable task. And seeing how a character overcomes adverse circumstances gives us ideas on how to handle situations in the future."

This article discusses many aspects of character development and when done correctly, can not only create a better character that your audience likes to watch/read but also create a story that will be memorable and leave an impression.
