This chapter helped me figure out a question I have always had growing up but never looked it up for myself: What are the grid lines used for on an iPhone camera? The Rule of Thirds Grid comes with the many features of an iPhone camera; it’s helpful for starter film makers who have a low budget. Using a device you already own to make film or any other type of video and photography is a blessing within itself. But to get to the final point out of all of this, the Rule of Thirds Grid is a useful tool to any type of film making. Symmetry, meeting points where the grids lines cross over, centering, headroom are all ways of using a simple grid to your advantage. I enjoy how using this grid makes filming video shots or taking photos simple and easy for beginners.

This website provides tips to using the rule of thirds on an iPhone camera. Along with the tips, beautiful examples are provided of photos taken using only an iPhone camera. Seeing these photos only emphasizes my statement that the iPhone is a good starter camera to those who already have the device.
